Setting the Record Straight |
| |
| Someone needs to send Democrat
Dave Hogue and the Liberal Democrat Party to
Time Out
for misrepresenting Carl Wimmer's record! From their mailers to their slanderous email campaign, so much information is
blatantly false; we decided we had better respond to it. All
too often, when a candidate runs out of new ideas, he reverts to
attacks that tear down his opponent. The Democrats
and Mr. Hogue have
falsely attacked Carl Wimmer on multiple fronts, including the issues listed below.
It is time to set the record straight and send the Democrats to
Time Out! |
| |
 |
| Health
Care Reform |
| |
| The great Charlton Heston said "when you
say something that is not true, usually it is a mistake.
When you say something that is not true, and you know it's
not true, it's a lie. The liberal Democrats
lied. Plain and simple.
Dave's flier states that Carl Wimmer "opposed the 2008 healthcare reform
plan." Dave knows
this is simply not true. The 2008 healthcare reform plan was
sponsored by Rep.David Clark and was titled HB133. This
link is the official record of HB133, proving Carl Wimmer
voted in favor of the legislation.
http://le.utah.gov/~2008/status/hbillsta/hb0133s2.002h.txt
Unlike Dave Hogue, Barrack Obama, and the Utah
Democrats; Carl Wimmer opposes socializing health care and
he wrote about this in an article shortly after
his brother Eric died of cancer. They used this painfully
personal article, to purposefully distort Carl's stance on
HB133.
HB133 set up a task force to look at free market
solutions to health care reform. Carl strongly supported it.

|
|
 |
| Taxes |
| |
| Dave Hogue and the Democrats again,
purposefully distorted the truth on taxes. They
say that Carl Wimmer wants to raise taxes, but the truth is
he has
cut taxes $427 million in two years! Carl has signed the
American's for Tax Reform pledge, which states he will
never vote for a tax increase. Democrat Dave Hogue has not, nor will
he ever sign such a pledge. Why? Because he has opposed
tax cuts throughout his political career! In 2006 he
opposed a large tax cut bill put forth by Rep. Jim Ferrin.
Carl Wimmer is one of the most fiscally conservative legislators in
Utah and would not propose a tax increase.
What Carl's opponent does not tell you, is that "The
Wimmer Tax Plan" calls for a 60% property tax
decrease, with a revenue neutral shift to sales tax,
NOT a tax increase. Again, a blatant distortion of the
facts.
The Wimmer tax plan would equalize school funding for the west
side of Jordan School District, preventing a tax increase.
What is Dave Hogue's plan to prevent a tax increase on the west
side? He doesn't have one. |
|
|
 |
| School
Split |
| |
| There is no one in the state who has done
more to help the west-side of Jordan School District than
Carl Wimmer. Because of his actions, Riverton, Herriman and
South Jordan are now receiving more than 14 million new
dollars per year to put toward our schools. This
will go a long way in preventing a tax increase.
The REAL issue with the district split, is that Carl's
opponent does not like the way he was able to position
himself in order to obtain school equalization for the
west-side. The
bottom line is that if the Democrat opponent were in
office, Riverton and Herriman would NOT have had a seat at
the equalization table. Rather than work with people,
Carl's opponent would have grandstanded, and in the end
got nothing done for the west side. There is
a time to talk, and then there is a time to work. Dave
Hogue talks the talk, and Carl Wimmer walks the walk.
We still need a more permanent solution for funding,
and yet again; while Carl's
opponent complains about the problem, he is working to
fix it. The Wimmer tax plan, referenced above, will
completely eliminate the risk of a property tax increase
to our area. |
|
|
 |
| CHIP |
| |
| Carl's opponent says he "voted against children"
when he voted against the expansion of CHIP. Why did
Carl vote against the expansion of this tax payer funded
entitlement program? Because it would have increased our
state budget. Maybe not this year, but sooner or later, we
will have to fund the expansion of CHIP and that means
more used up tax dollars and an inflated state budget.
In addition, the expansion of CHIP has gotten to the
point that people making a good living are dropping their
private health insurance and signing up for the tax payer
funded CHIP program, this is just not right.
Carl was not willing, in a lean year, to vote to expand
social programs for others, when you and your family are
struggling to make ends meet as it is. Carl's opponent talks
about fiscal responsibility, while Carl Wimmer provides
fiscal responsibility. |
|
| |
| Toll Roads |
| |
| Supporters of Democrat Dave Hogue are
accusing Carl of supporting toll roads. This is a
baseless lie. He does not support tolling. Enough said.
Please reference Carl's "Issue's" page for details on this
and other important issues. |
|
 |
| Conclusion |
| |
| Lies have been passed on, attacks have
been made, insults have been thrown. The Carl Wimmer
campaign rejects this type of negative campaigning, and
commits that they will never use baseless, false
attacks simply to earn your vote. Now, off to
Time Out for the Democrats
and Dave Hogue! |
