Candidate Jason Chaffetz Endorses Carl Wimmer

Dear Voter,

Two years ago, you sent a new voice to the Utah State Legislature.  Time has shown you made the right choice.  Carl Wimmer has already demonstrated remarkable leadership on Capitol Hill.  Carl sponsored and passed Jessica's Law – a landmark piece of crime legislation.  He developed a consistently conservative voting record.  And he had the unique distinction of being appointed to the highly-sought-after School Equalization Task Force as a freshman.
I admire Carl's willingness to tackle the tough issues.  He doesn't just shoot down other people's ideas.  He brings ideas to the table.  In the upcoming legislative session, Carl will work to dramatically reduce property taxes, equalize school funding, move to a consumption-based tax system, and address the problems created by the federal government's failure to enforce
immigration laws.
Carl is a true conservative with a voting record to prove it.  His record stands in direct contrast to that of his opponent, whose record was far enough left that Democrats allegedly enticed him to switch parties a few months ago.

"Several Republican legislators were romanced earlier this year by  Democratic leaders, promising the moderate lawmakers thousands of dollars in campaign aid - tens of thousands according to one lawmaker - if they switched parties. Ultimately, the Republican legislators rebuffed the overtures, though a former lawmaker, Dave Hogue, took the offer." (Salt Lake Tribune, 5/16/08).

I believe your legislative district has one of the best choices on the ballot this year.  If your representative can outperform veteran lawmakers as a freshman, imagine what he can do with the next two years!  I urge you to re-elect Carl Wimmer on November 4.

Sincerely,

Jason Chaffetz
